The Begining level is for students ages 7 and above. Classes are offered by age and are carefully developed in accordance with a child’s physical and cognitive abilities. Placement is at the discretion of the Ballet teacher or studio director. Summer classes are available for all levels. Children at this level will participate in the Ballet Production.
The focus during these formative years of training is on traditional classical ballet techniques. Students improve their understanding of proper ballet terminology and increase their awareness of anatomy, posture and correct alignment. We begin to emphasize musicality, and further develop strength, coordination and flexibility. Dancers should expect to spend about 2 years in each of the the Elementary levels. Students may be required to repeat these levels and summer classes are strongly encouraged to stay on track for fall placement.

Intermediate levels
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Ballet Levels 3 through 4 are designed for students ages 10 and up. Students in this division can expect to spend more than one year in each level. Students in Levels 2 through 4 perform in both the Ballet Production as well as 3NM recital. The emphasis in this level is the development of the “whole child”. Along with continued progress in their physical development, students enjoy a more detailed curriculum. Students in this level begin to understand a commitment to excellence and the desire to achieve their “personal best”. It is at this stage in a child’s training that we begin to see them emerge as young artists. We continue to build on each student’s natural abilities while emphasizing strength, stamina and technical accomplishment. In addition to technique and conditioning classes, the students add contemporay, and Lyrical dance to their program. Boys focus on boy’s techniques while girls at this level are carefully evaluated and typically placed on pointe. With support and guidance students progress at a pace tailored to match their individual needs.
PLACEMENT | Students in this division are expected to participate in summer classes, intensive dance camp or an or a ballet intensive.
